Headed by father and son team of Jorg Hysek Sr., Jorg Hysek Jr., and designer Fabrice Gonet, watch maker HD3 set out to create timepiece perfectly aligning the two worlds of mechanical complexity and futuristic styling. They succeed with the HD3 SLYDE. Taken inspiration from smartphone, where functions can be switch with simple slide of a finger, HD3 developed a touchscreen digital dial face with multitude of time-related operations such as chronograph, moon phase, timer, calendar, time zone, and etc… While it is quite similar to many of its digital counterpart, all of its technical features were created by HD3. Encased in a stainless shell or titanium case with domed sapphire crystal screen, the SLYDE siphoned power from a 3.8V lithium polymer, rechargeable via a USB connector. Water resistant up to 30 meters, the high-tech, high-end timepiece is currently available for pre-order at RESTIR for $9,360 US. RESTIR

In search of the perfect raw components for his footwear, designer Hiroki Nakamura of visvim lives an almost nomadic lifestyle. Still, he wouldn’t have it any other way. For his latest design, visvim FBT JP, Nakamura utilized both suede cowhide as its upper and regular cowhide as its liner. As with all visvim products, the unique tanning process gives each a characteristic where no two are alike. On a natural cork footbed insert with PU midsole and Vibram outsole, the FBT JP is as comfortable as it looks. Comes in black, light brown, sand, light blue, and red, all are available now at F.I.L and other visvim retail locations in Japan, Hong Kong, and rest of Asia.

Known for lavish galas, luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton had other plans for the celebration of its small goods collection’s 100th anniversary. With help from creative consultancy Chameleon Visual, British artist Billie Achilleos received the commission for “Maroquinaris Zoologicae”, a miniature zoo full of small mammals, birds, reptilians, crustaceans, even insects, all pieced together with Louis Vuitton wallets, purses, belts, and accessories. In all, this amazing assembly of 29 caricatures went on display at the famous Parisian taxidermy store Deyrolle, right next to some of their real-life count parts, enliven the conversations between party goers as the store hosted the 100th year celebration back in October. Just recently participated as part of the holiday display in Louis Vuitton Omotesando, the exhibit will be on a world tour again for the duration of next year.

They are some of the most talked about photographers today, primarily because their uncanny abilities to capture “the moment” in stylized fashion despite the sometime unpredictable setting. There are no test shots, no assistants with Broncolor setup, or last minute choreography with the subject. Its just you and what ever that is available to you at that period in time. Thus, making these behind-the-scenes documentaries on “Watch The Throne” concert in Madison Square Garden all the more amazing. Part of street photographer Tommy Ton (aka Jak & Jil)’s look back on the events of 2011, the sequence features the heaven-like halos around Kanye West and Jay-Z as spotlights light their ways on stage. And if you look closely, that’s the Nike Air Yeezy 2 Kanye’s wearing.

Right from the start, Japanese designer Kazuki Kuraishi proclaimed his new retail concept, Heather Grey Wall, to be something different. Living up to that declaration, the store and its proprietor been quick to introduce exclusive merchandises from Cash CA, Levi’s Japan, and 84-74 Lab. Come next season, it will launch an exclusive outerwear collection with Kuraishi’s long time supporter, NEIGHBORHOOD. In following NEIGHBORHOOD and its creative director Shinsuke Takizawa’s continue fascination with American bike culture, the outerwear collection will feature two designs in classic biker jacket forms. However, with all of Kuraishi’s collaborations, there will be a slight departure from tradition. Instead of leather, the jackets will be made from either DiAPLEX PARMIA (in black) or DYNAMONUS (in beige), both high function technical fabrics that are breathable yet almost indestructible in any outdoor conditions. Driven by the success of his Fenom line with Levi’s Japan, trend maker Hiroshi Fujiwara teamed up with another Japanese label in launching another limited denim collection in the coming month. Introducing Denim by VANQUISH & fragment design, a curated series by Fujiwara’s fragment design and VANQUISH. In three washes, each with different fits, all to feature fragment’s unique details such as embroidered logo of its lightening bolts to the vertical stash pocket on the right side. Imprinted with hidden messages like “Welcome” and “Vanquish” over the zip fly placket, the limited collection will be available on January 28th through five BEAUTY & YOUTH flagship stores in Japan. The denims are also available for pre-order now at VANQUISH‘s online outlet within ZOZOTOWN and the label’s own online store. Release Date: January 28ht, 2012 (Saturday)

Now with colder weather settling in, A Bathing Ape is making another iteration of its signature 1st Camo pattern available – the 1st Camo Reversible Fleece Parka by A Bathing Ape and Polartec. Deemed by many as the first name in technical fleece, Polartec, then named Malden Mills, introduced the Polarfleece synthetic fabric in 1979. Almost in an instant, the fabric became a must-have materials in outdoor gear, military hardware, and other vital survival tools. So much so that it was named as one of the 100 most important inventions in the 20th century by Time Magazine. In this newest collaborative design, A Bathing Ape utilized a rip-stop, weather proof shell, imprinted with its 1st Camo graphics, as the parka’s exterior. Lined on the interior is a plush layer of Polartec fleece, in either hunter green or black. As the name suggested, the item can be worn inside out as well. Available now at BAPE locations in Japan, its online store, and ZOZOTOWN affiliate. It will also be available at BAPE’s international retail locations in the coming weeks as well.
