Just with the photography trade, DJ trade has been made tremendously easy by the introduction of digital software and internet. Back in the day, DJ’s would actually go out digging for records to find the breaks, unlike now where all of that information can be found online at the push of few buttons. One of the pioneers who took this genre to a whole new level is DJ Neil Armstrong who created the Original mixtape series ten years ago, showcasing both the original track and hip hop track that sampled it side by side. The anniversary also marks the incredible growth of DJ Neil Armstrong as a DJ as well. adidas and STPL got together to produce 50 limited edition friends and family track jacket to be handed out by DJ Neil Armstrong. Unfortunately, this is probably as close as we are going to get to the exclusive jacket, so check out the detailed photos after the jump.

Now that we have recovered from the long celebration for the new year and perhaps some hangover, new products are making their way into retailers around the world. WHIZ Limited is starting 2012 by dropping their VV Stadium Jacket. Each new year, WHIZ Limited releases a limited run of stadium jackets in 76 units and this year’s releases are flying out of the door as expected. Three colorways are produced in black, charcoal grey and navy tones. On the left chest, a double V patch is sewn on indicating the initial of WHIZ Limited brand. Opposite side of the jacket is embroidered with a script font that reads The Tribe of Whiz, signifying the limited few who own the hard to find jackets. Bottom right corner of the piece features a serial number, authenticating the limited edition. via: LUMP

| Nike Air Force 1 – Year of the Dragon | Preview Posted: 02 Jan 2012 09:30 PM PST
2012, Year of the Dragon, certainly will be an auspicious year for Nike. Along with the upcoming Olympic Games in London later this summer, the Beaverton-base sportswear giant will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of Air Force 1, one of its most historical design. As part of its long held tradition, Nike will release a special Air Force 1 to coincide with upcoming Chinese New Year at the end of this month. Simply known as Nike Air Force 1 Year of the Dragon edition, some of the early images show a design that is quite a departure from the previous Chinese New Year editions. Inspired by Amur River, which is locally known as “Black Dragon River”, the design is an all black fabric upper on contrast white sole with a series of intricate details embroidered along the shoe as swirling tides. Immersed among the watery chaos also is the dragon itself, which finally shows itself at part of the tongue tag. Other details include a leather Nike Swoosh in reptilian print and a grand riverscape patterned after ancient Chinese graphics as part of the sock liner. No official release date is available as of yet, though few retailers have already made the shoe available in Asia. via: Hoops China

As a way to usher in the New Year, A Bathing Ape is making the second part of its Star Wars collaboration available at select BAPE retail outlets in Japan. Similar to George Lucas’ space sage, this latest collection focus mostly on “Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back” with Baby Milo taking center stage as both Hans Solo (sealed in carbonite ) and an officer of the Imperial fleet. Much sought after by both Star Wars fans and BAPE followers, the collection just made its early debut on New Year’s Day in Japan with world wide release coming soon in the weeks ahead.

Encino’s Primitive is ringing in 2012 with a full slate of VANS releases. There’s something here for everyone, starting with a Greg Hunt x VANS Syndicate in-store only drop comprised of the Era 46 Pro “S” and Sk8-Low “S,” both built with a combination of suede and waxed canvas in basic black with white midsole. It’s hard to put a finger on a specific source of inspiration for adidas Original Jeremy Scott‘s Spring 2012 s footwear collection, but that’s exactly the way he likes it: bold and uncommon. The materials – ranging from denim to leather and suede – are as diverse as the looks themselves, which include boots, sandals, sneakers and loafers. The JS Wings, which caught on big last season, are back in a light denim texture as well as a Stars & Stripes edition, but the pieces sure to draw the most attention will be the one-of-a-kind Gorilla and Leopard sneakers, the vented leather sandal and combat boot, and the yellow colorway of the tongue-exaggerated hi-top. Whether you like them or not, Scott’s Spring Collection definitely lives up to the adidas Originals name. Check out the entire preview after the jump.

While the rest of New York — and the world — celebrated the arrival of the new year with bubbly and revelry, a dedicated group of athletes embarked on a flash run around New York City, led by the NYC Bridge Runners club. Over 100 runners joined in the fun, their collective New Year’s resolution to #makeitcount in 2012. A video recap of the event reveals a New Year’s celebration in sneaker-bound triumph (courtesy of Nike), and a group of smiling, cheerings runners who are well on their way to making it count. How was your New Year’s Eve? It was a blast for do it yourselfer ch00ftech, thanks largely to his authentic glow-in-the-dark eyewear. With the first inkling of the idea coming from his friend Jordan, the handy electronic sage created the “Stronger” Glasses, so named because of Kanye West‘s “Stronger” off the Graduation album. With some striped EL wire, a 9-volt battery, a microphone, active envelope detector, and few other components, ch00ftech created a mini light show on his Iced Out sunglasses.
