Around this time each year, Bedwin & The Heartbreakers launch their award jacket affectionately known as Jerry. The basic silhouette does not change dramatically and its definitely a piece that fans look forward to each year. An understated black and gray versions are produced this year, featuring raglan sleeves made from premium black leather materials. Contrasting the smooth leather sleeves are the Melton wool bodies with black snap buttons, ribbed collar, hem and cuffs. A white embroidery on the left cuff states ‘Paramount Quality’, giving a proof of the Japanese craftsmanship. When a luxury vehicle rolls out of the production line, most would admire its beauty and sophistication. However, for British designer and tuner A. Khan, it was just the beginning. He established Project Khan to add his personal touch to high end vehicles and here is his latest offering based on the Range Rover Evoque. The two-tone color scheme on the exterior leaps out, complementing the futuristic aesthetic. A choice of alloy wheels are offered from 20 inches up to 22 inches, beefing up its stance. If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was still alive today, he would be celebrating his 83rd birthday on Sunday, January 15th. In a bid to remember and honor the great man, Supra has prepared a special pair of sneakers, dubbed the MLK Vaider. The all black exterior features Raptor TUF material on the uppers matched by all black soles, interior and shoe laces. Gold highlights are can be found on the metallic lace holes, piping on the tongue and Supra logos throughout the footwear. After the realm of heavenly beast with the Air Jordan 2012 – Year of the Dragon, the Nike Basketball leads us to a more “grounded aspect” of Chinese culture – Chinese Kung Fu. As part of the Year of the Dragon quartet by Nike Basketball and Jordan Brand, the Nike Kobe VII Systeme Supreme – Year of the Dragon is one where Kobe Bryant‘s fortes in speed and agility come into play. Long fan of the Chinese martial art movies, Bryant added a touch of his childhood home, Italy’s tri-color, into the mix. Along with Bryant’s golden logo and animated dragon print on the heel counter, its the perfect symbolism for invincibility.

First enshrouded under rumors and leaked images, Nike and Jordan Brand finally unveiled their collection for the upcoming Lunar New Year and what an expansive collection it is. Known as the Year of the Dragon, according to Chinese horoscope, which goes by year rather than month, it is known to be a time of prosperity and good fortune. A mythical beast on par with Gods and Goddess, Jordan Brand artfully conveys the dragon’s revered status to a pair of Air Jordan 2012. Dominating the silhouette is the removable cushion insert in yellow, a color long to be an association to China’s emperors. A lower cut insert, in sky blue, is also available. The centerpiece, though, is the AJ2012 itself, a bluish creation in conjunction with both Michael Jordan’s love with Carolina sky and Blue Dragon, another reference to the Chinese Imperial past. One interesting footnote is the number 9. Long held as scared being that it is the largest single-digit, only emperors wear robes with 9 dragons. The number is also one that appears during auspicious time during Michael Jordan’s career. It was during his 9th season, in the years 1992 and 1993, that Jordan set records, both personal and league. Perhaps it is correct when we call him “His Airness”. The Air Jordan 2012 – Year of the Dragon comes with 2 cushions and 3 midsoles for personalized fit and performance.

Considering 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic Nike Air Force 1, it’s probably not a stretch to posit the upcoming year will see a cavalcade of Uptown releases. Not that we need a special occasion to appreciate the timeless appeal of the shoe. Just before the most recent holiday rush, Delta once again pushed the boundaries with a behind-the-scene look at where your checked-in luggage goes during your voyage – something all of us have wondered but too afraid to ask. With a hallowed out hard case and six cameras pointed at different sides, our journey starts at Delta’s hub in Atlanta and ends in New York. Since its debut, the video has gone viral. Legendary graffiti artist Leonard McGurr, better known as FUTURA 2000, is set to open an exhibition made up of fifteen new works, all created in 2011. Entitled “FUTURA 2012 – Expansions,” the installation will run from January 13th to February 29th at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont in Paris. Preview images reveal the artist’s signature paint work that showcases spontaneity and energy, the bold colors and lines on the canvas expressing a set of actions as opposed to traditional pictorial representation. Doing what he has for the past three decades, FUTURA has developed a technique and style that sets him apart from his contemporaries.
