When Japanese fashion retailer Beauty & Youth tackled the collaboration project with CONVERSE, they decided to take advantage of the Jack Purcell sneakers. The choice for the low cut tennis shoes is obvious, as these are popular with fans who are a little bit more mature compared to its wilder sibling, the Chuck Taylor All Star. Although it may not be apparent at first, these sneakers are influenced by military wear. Its uppers are made in olive and navy tones reflecting army and navy, with herringbone pattern providing a subtle texture. The shoe laces have also been changed to a thinner, rounder laces similar to draw cords on military jackets. Both versions are currently available for pre-order on Beauty & Youth online store with the delivery planned for early February.

Animal patterns are a favorite amongst many and adidas Originals have created an Animal Pack just for them. To complement the Animal Pack, Tokyo sneaker boutique Kinetics has also redesigned the Superstar 80′s using matching animal patterns as well. Faux-fur leopard skin material is selected for the uppers, contrasted by the three stripes made from grey snake skin material. Gold Trefoil logo on the tongue and heel, gives these sneakers a premium feel. For the apparel collection, adidas Originals took the classic black tracksuits and replaced the usually white three stripes with leopard and snake skin fabrics. Matching leopard and snake skin t-shirts are also included in the pack and all of the items can be pre-ordered on CHAPTER online store. Delivery is scheduled to commence around late January to early February.

The difference between a good artist and a great artist is simply their longevity. Great works can transcend time and be timeless classic, appreciated by countless generations. Keith Haring belongs to the latter group of artists who is still popular after his death. Japanese company Idea Seventh Sense have licensed three iconic designs from Haring and printed them onto their iPhone protector case. The case is made to fit on an iPhone 4 or 4S and it features the colorful artwork printed on the back panel. There are two bezels included with each case, matching with the phone or the case. Idea Seventh Sense is currently accepting pre-order right now of these on their online store and delivery will take place around mid February.

Over the weekend, HUF launched a special website for the HUF x Haroshi x DLX collaboration project. To our surprise, the website not only featured the amazing sculpture works by Japanese artist Haroshi, there were various apparel, caps and shoes on the site as well. The capsule collection further invited fellow skateboard brand Real Skateboards, Spitfire and Krooked to take part in the project. Graphics on the t-shirts, hoodies, caps and shoes are inspired by the multi-colored wood that makes up a skateboard deck. Head over to the micro website to pick up these items before they are all gone.

A Bathing Ape and PORTER are probably one of the most widely recognized Japanese brands out there and they are teaming up for a special collaboration. For this collection, both brands are returning to their classic designs. As far as international recognition is concerned, A Bathing Ape is best known for their original camouflage designs and these 1st Camo patterns are where it all started. On the other hand, the Tanker Series is the most recognizable series produced by PORTER, with the items made in military inspired nylon materials. For those who were present at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo in October, 2011 got the chance to see the mastermind JAPAN x Mercedes-Benz G-550 in person. What looked to be an one-of promotional vehicle is actually in the process of being mass produced. The long bodied G-550 is dressed in Obsidian Black on the exterior with chrome accents and the famous mastermind JAPAN logos on each corner. Contrasting the cool exterior is the warm interior made from Chestnut Brown seats and trim. Stussy is joining forces with two heavyweights of Hong Kong streetwear scene, CLOT and Subcrew for a capsule collection. As all three brands are still rooted heavily into the street culture, they have gone back to the basics with simple graphics on staple style. Each piece is produced in three colorways and they consist of SCS Diamonds Hoodie, SCS Logo T-Shirt and SCS Triangle Crew. The two-tone graphic borrows elements from each brand’s logo and is printed on the front of the garment. On the back, three logos are screen printed diagonally signifying the capsule project. All the items are currently in stock at elect Stussy outlets in US and EU, as well as on the Stussy online store.
