New Balance debuted the 574 series back in 1988 at the heart of the running boom, gaining fans from all over the world. Although today, there are totally different type of fans who are wearing these sneakers. Slated as the Workwear Pack, brand new colorways of the ML574 will be launching this Spring. Four versions make up this work inspired pack, made with premium suede uppers dyed in Earthy tones. Black, brown, navy and gray colorways will be available with each pair equipped with waxed cotton shoe laces. Brooklyn’s Affinity Cycles has been at the forefront of the fixed gear bike movement since the beginning. Amitabh Joshi, a film student at New York City’s School of Visual Arts and a regular customer at Affinity, shot a video profile of the shop as part of a school film project. The clip introduces founder and CEO Jason Gallacher, who characterizes Affinity as equal parts club house, business and operation, but ultimately something he simply loves to do. Shop mechanic Sammy Lopez explains that track bikes became popular with messengers because of the low maintenance factor, as the bike’s components are little more than a chain, crank and wheels. Takuya Sakamoto, a former messenger, outlines the pivotal role that cheap Japanese Keirin bike frames played in bringing the popularity of track bikes to the United States. Osaka based bag company LARS have recently launched their tote bag range. Ordinarily their products are marketed towards cyclists and are known for their messenger bags, pouches and wallets. This new model however sees an entry into the lifestyle who may not necessarily own bicycles. These bags are constructed from 1680D nylon on the outer and are lined with tarpaulin on the interior. Its large opening can be zipped closed for safety and a small zipped compartment is located on the side as well. Its traditional silhouette is accented by full grain leather uppers from Italian tannery, Conceria Emmedue. These boots enjoy the stamped texture and the dark uppers are contrasted by cream Vibram Morflex soles. These soles are said to be much lighter than rubber soles, while offering superb traction and cushioning. If the adidas Originals Jeremy Scott footwear collection is popular with the adults, there is no reason why it kids wouldn’t love them either. The miniature versions of the collaboration sneakers will be dropping sometime next month. First pair to be released from the soft toy series is the Leopard sneakers clad in leopard skin uppers with soft tails popping out from the heels. From the JS Wings series comes the JS Wings 2.0, featuring blue and red, stars and stripes pattern on the uppers and wings. Last release for the month is the JS Wings Denim, wrapped in washed denim fabric with cream colored stitching throughout. Be on the look out as all of these sneakers as they will make way to the adidas Originals stores in February.

With all the hype around the 2013 Porsche 911′s, it’s good to know that advance shots of its kid-brother, the 2013 Boxster, didn’t slip through the cracks. Set to arrive in showrooms this summer – when this famed drop-top can truly show its colors – the 2013 Boxster has lost some weight, gained some more power, and flaunts some new attractive exterior features. Under the hood, the 2013 Boxster has a 2.7-liter flat six that pumps out 265 hp that comes standard with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch. Although the details aren’t in on its total weight, Porsche announced this model will be lighter than its current version due to a new type of aluminum and other lightweight material upgrades, which helps to give it a 15% boost in overall fuel economy. On the outside, it’s easy to notice new bumper designs that include daytime running lights, the addition of a crease that runs to the rear fenders, and the re-positioning of the mirrors from the A-frame to the doors. The rear spoiler has even been moved back and blended into the taillights helping to give the Boxster a sleek silhouette even with a larger overall wheelbase. | AFENDS – Summer 2012 – Men’s Collection Lookbook | Video Posted: 11 Jan 2012 11:00 PM PST
Founded in 2006 in the Australian seaside town of Byron Bay, AFENDS is a nascent fashion label that draws inspiration from the crew’s personal interests. As marketing manager Kent Wright explains, “We are young, creative, artistic surfers, skateboarders and music lovers so that has become the meaning behind the label.” The brand has opened up four concept stores in Byron Bay, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Kuta, Bali, in Indonesia. In the next few months AFEND is planning to stage invasions into the U.S. and European markets.
